My name is Sae, a 41-year-old widow living in Japan. My husband passed away in 2021. There was a significant age gap between us, and in his will, he left me two wishes: not to remarry and not to have a boyfriend.


Since his passing, I have honored his wishes. However, the loneliness has become overwhelming, and I sometimes feel I may break the promise I made to him.

To cope with this loneliness, I’ve taken up a unique hobby: expressing my beauty through gravure-style self-portraits. Through this, I aim to convey both my unfulfilled desires and the solitude I carry.
